Thanks so much for visiting my site! Here is a little bit about me. My name is Sarah Mehaffey and I have been traveling all my life. I started traveling when I was just 8 weeks old and haven’t stopped since.
You will have to ask my mother if my passion for travel began way back then, but I think she mostly said I just cried on the plane. Who knows, maybe I didn’t like flying coach? Just kidding…well mostly. 😄
What’s this blog about?
My desire with this blog is to provide travel inspiration if you are looking for life changing destinations to explore. I also want to enhance your experience by helping you find great food and restaurants while you travel, especially if you happen to be vegetarian like me. Lastly I want to offer travel tips to help you have a classy and luxurious experience without spending a lot of money.
Why did I start this blog?
I first started this blog because I had lost touch with my creative side. When you’re young and in school you do tons of creative things all the time; write poems, paint pictures, mould sculptures. I even once made photographs with a camera I made out of an old oatmeal container. Yes, really!
When you grow up it seems most of us stop paying attention to our creativity. We forget we can be anything we want to be. We get caught up with paying the bills, keeping up the house and yard, running the errands and then wake up years later and wonder what happened to us. I did anyway.
As the years went by I got my degree, the big job, the big house. Everything I thought I wanted. Don’t get me wrong. All that stuff is great, but something was still missing. This can’t be all there is. What was it? I had pursued a practical career instead of the creative life I really wanted.
Now all these years later I find myself stuck in the monotony and drudgery of being a cog in the wheel of corporate America and longing for a career on my own terms, traveling, writing and doing photography.
So this is me putting myself out there, sharing my creative side and hoping one day that more than my mother and a few close friends will read this blog and I can one day turn this into a career. No pressure. 😄 Either way at least I am doing the things that I love.
One of the constants in my life has always been travel. Travel has always made me feel free, adventurous, like I’m living my life how I always wanted to be. My best self, listening to street musicians, marveling at great works of art and of course savoring delicious new cuisine.
I didn’t grow up with a lot of money and I don’t think it’s fair that travel, adventure and amazing experiences should be only available for some.
Over the years I figured out how to at least make my travel dreams come true . Now I want to share what I’ve learned with others.
I want you to have amazing experiences too! Stay in a cave hotel in Santorini. Ride a camel past the pyramids of Giza. Sip champagne as you drift along the Seine with the Eiffel Tower twinkling in the distance. Sing along to your favorite Broadway musical in New York City. Everyone deserves to do the fabulous things that I have been able to do in my travels and you can do it too!!
I’ve been to 18 countries and hope to explore many more. I’m a little older now and more comfortable, so I aim at to have a classier and more luxurious experience. Yes, I have been called “bougie” on more than one occasion recently, but I’m honestly okay with that. I guess that’s one perk of getting older. I have the ability to pamper myself a little more and I don’t feel guilty about it at all!
More about me
I’m a Denver, Colorado native and currently live just North of Denver with my rescue Chorgi (Chihuahua/Corgi), Daisy. 🌼 💕
I’m a single professional woman who works full-time, tries to squeeze in as much travel as I possibly can and volunteer on the weekends at my local animal shelter walking the dogs. Animals are another passion of mine. That’s where I found my little girl! As you can see she loves travel too. 😄
When I’m not working, volunteering or traveling I love exploring my hometown Denver, finding new restaurants, listening to local music and experiencing art.
I’m fortunate enough to have an amazing group of friends to travel with and I look forward to sharing those experiences with you. Your best friend will always tell you the things no one else will and I want to do that same thing for you. 😀
I’ve made many missteps along the way in my travel journeys, so I will share all my tips and tricks with you. Sometimes you need to embrace those missteps though because they become your most authentic and memorable experiences.
For example the time I was lost and exhausted, dragging my luggage around Florence for at least and hour. I stumbled upon a lovely local playground with kids playing. I got to practice my Italian with a local mom who helped me finally find my hotel. Whew!
When I get tired or frustrated I remind myself that you can’t experience the amazing without the sometimes exhausting, frustrating and annoying. Remember, it’s all part of the experience!
